Editor,

Claiborne Linvill is the dynamo candidate for South Carolina State House District 3! She’s currently completing her 4th year on the Pickens County Council, representing District 1 (Clemson). The only Democrat in ruby red Pickens County, she gets along amicably with her Republican cohorts. A stickler for research she asks questions to encourage transparency so that all voices are both informed and heard; a necessary asset in a functioning democracy.

Claiborne has volunteered for or been appointed to every school or church committee and civic organization she deems helpful to our community, all despite the crammed schedule of a wife and working mother of two teens. She taught public relations at Clemson University and then founded her own consulting firm, Rock Creek Communications with clients at C.U. and throughout the Upstate. She served as P.R. and Marketing director of The South Carolina Botanical Garden. She joined other teachers to found Lake and Bridges Charter School, a free public facility for dyslexic children, now serving more than 200 in Easley, S.C. That’s just for starters. Please check out her website and be amazed! Only a happy, fully engaged, beneficent force could pull off such a high functioning, whirlwind of effective community service!

And there’s more. Claiborne fights for family services. She would increase and expand childcare access, support and defend our libraries, improve county resiliency and invest in more road repairs.

Beyond her regular council duties, Claiborne has served constituents and the county by contributing to groups and boards including:

1. Greenville-Pickens Area Transportation Study (GPATS) before transitioning to the Anderson-Clemson Area Transportation Study (ACATS)

2. Appalachian Council of Governments (ACOG), serving on the Regional Transportation Committee

3. Land Use, Natural Resources and Transportation Policy Steering Committee of the S.C. Association of Counties

4. South Carolina Chamber of Commerce Child Care Coalition

The woman is obviously a sterling choice to represent our district in the State House!

She’s a veritable dynamo, a happy public servant, eager to continue working for our expanding community, like her record shows she worked for Pickens County. Her good head is screwed into ‘robust and super helpful’ and ‘let’s get it done!’ She’s affable, flexible and a fine team player with strong civic values.

Claiborne is happily married with two beautiful children providing a stable home base for greater expanded service.
